According to Zillow, sellers who list their homes in late May tend to walk away with higher sale prices. Their reasoning? Buyer activity typically peaks before Memorial Day, as house hunters get serious about locking in a home before summer vacations and the new school year.

It’s not just Zillow calling out May as prime time. A long-term study from ATTOM Data analyzed over 59 million home sales over the past 13 years and found that May consistently delivers the best return for sellers — with an average premium of up to 13.1% above market value.

Bankrate echoes the same message:

“Sellers can net thousands of dollars more if they sell during the peak months of April and May.”

In short: Spring is still king when it comes to real estate sales.
